Copy content in to NHS Core Site

Often content will have been created in Microsoft Word or another word processor, or perhaps it already exists on an existing website. In these cases it is far more efficient to copy content and paste it into NHS Core Site than to retype it.

As before, you should either create New page or open an existing page in Edit mode, so you’ll need to be logged in first.
Once you are in Edit mode and can see the edit window in NHS Core Site, try right clicking in the edit window. You should see that there are two paste options. The first, Paste, is the same as clicking the Paste icon or pressing Ctrl-V on the keyboard. It will paste the text from the Windows clipboard directly into the editor with all the formatting. This is great for complex formats where you want to keep the formatting (such as for Tables, where the editor in Word is very powerful and lets you create tables that would be hard to do in html). Unfortunately it is bad if you want the formatting in the style sheets (CSS) to determine how things look and where you want to maintain good accessibility compliance (MS Word produces ‘bad’ html code).

Option 2, then, is Paste unformatted. This strips out all the ‘bad’ html and leaves you with unformatted text in your editor, which you can then reformat as required.
