Windows SharePoint Services – Site BuildConnected people

The modern business or public sector world uniformly emphasise the value of team work. IT systems have a place in supporting this, providing tools to help teams work together, share information and schedule their activities. We have extensive experience in helping organisations use such tools. With the latest generation of Windows SharePoint Services coming free with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 it is possible to rapidly put in place powerful and flexible tools to suport team working both within your organisation and across organisational or geographic boundaries.

What you get

With just 3 days of consultancy the Carelink team will set up a WSS collaboration (or other application) environment for your organisation, and provide training to put you in a position to really exploit and extend it.

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 (WSS) provides the ability to set up advanced but easy to use collaborative environments for the teams within your organisation. The great thing is that WSS comes as standard with Windows 2003 Server, so no additional software to purchase!

What we do

We will provide you with an initial three days of consultancy to:

  • Review your requirements for the use of WSS
  • Explain and demonstrate the features of WSS and how they relate to your requirements
  • Configure WSS to provide the first collaborative team environment you require
  • Provide training and guidance on maintaining and extending your WSS sites, so you can add more sites yourself
  • Explain how WSS relates to other technologies such as SharePoint Portal Server, InfoPath, and how it can be developed even further through .NET development.

What WSS provides

WSS can have an unlimited number of Team Sites for the teams within your organisation, whether they be permanent parts of the organisations or teams that form for the duration of projects.

A WSS Team site is a place where your team can communicate, share documents, and work together on a projects or initiatives. If the team works on multiple projects, you can even create a separate site for each project worked on, or special sites for meetings or special sites for individual document collaboration.

You can contribute to the site by using nothing more than a Web browser. However, if you use a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible client program, such as Microsoft Office 2003, you can work seamlessly with the site, saving files to libraries, editing documents in the client program, and moving or linking that information to your site.

For any team that needs it you can:

  • Create a single place to share and manage all of the team information such as calendars, tasks, and lists.
  • Better manage document creation and review - with document versioning and check-in / check-out facilities.
  • Use templates, Web Parts, views, and custom lists to easily customise your workspaces.
  • Achieve effective information dissemination using alerts, discussion boards, surveys, and announcements.
  • Keep teams connected through integration with Microsoft Live Communication, Microsoft Live Meeting, and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
