When you’re working in a team, material is often stored in a number of places – from your email inbox to your file server to individual hard drives. SharePoint makes life easy by providing a Web based team collaboration environment that can be used to create a central repository of project information as well as manage team activities.

Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) is a powerful web application that allows users to quickly and easily create extranets, project portals and team web sites.

It provides a framework for team collaboration; it empowers users to collaborate on documents and tasks and to share contacts, events and other information. All WSS sites are protected with a password and user ID, providing a secure tool for information.

You can easily create your own applications using the complete set of webparts that comes as standard, optionally using the extra webparts that we have developed or form part of the MS Office Extensions. Alternatively you can use one of the predefined templates recently released by Microsoft. It is possible to create subsites from your top level WSS site, with our navigation web part providing easy access to the subsites, each of which can have the same permission or a sub-set of users to the parent site.

No programming skills are required, so building a team site can be done by end users.

Our hosting solution provides reliable access from both the Internet and NHSnet/N3, so WSS sites can be used for multi-agency collaboration, partner extranets, remote worker applications or sites and even intranets that span dispersed parts of the organisation (especially where they don;t share a common network).

Document Libraries 

Document Library

Create a document library when you have a collection of documents or other files that you want to share. Document libraries support features such as sub-folders, file versioning, and check-in/check-out.  

Form Library

Create a form library when you have XML-based business forms, such as status reports or purchase orders, that you want to manage. These libraries require a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible XML editor, such as Microsoft Office InfoPath.

Picture Libraries

Create a picture library when you have pictures you want to share.  Picture libraries provide special features for managing and displaying pictures, such as thumbnails, download options, and a slide show.

Create a links list when you have links to Web pages or other resources that you want to share.

Create a custom list when you want to specify your own columns. The list opens in a spreadsheet-like environment for convenient data entry, editing, and formatting. It requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible list datasheet control and ActiveX control support. 

Import Spreadsheet

Import a spreadsheet when you want to create a list that has the same columns and contents as an existing spreadsheet. Importing a spreadsheet requires a spreadsheet application compatible with Windows SharePoint Services.

Discussion Board
