It’s that time of the year again when all of us in the IT industry and NHS communities meet face-face at Europe's largest and most comprehensive Health Informatics event, Healthcare Computing 2007, at the Harrogate International Conference Centre from the 19th to 21st March 2007. Carelink is once again exhibiting (stand B76) and we also have the pleasure in informing you that Adrian Purcell, Head of IT Services for Hull & East Riding Health Informatics Service (HERHIS), is presenting a 30 minute case history presentation at 13.30 on Tuesday 20th March entitled ‘How we halved our desktop/user support costs at HERHIS’. Admission is free to all delegates and we would delighted to see you. We are always happy to meet both familiar and new faces so why not also come to see us on stand B76 too and let us help you with any of your IT queries face-face. We know time is very precious with so much to see and do, so if you would prefer you can organise a meeting in advance. We are focusing on the new Microsoft Office 2007 technology, especially MOSS (SharePoint) and our N3 hosting and Spine services. However we will also be equipped to demonstrate all our solutions and services, including NHS Core Site (our leading NHS web site solution) and ioko Connect - our collaboration suite. Again, we are more than happy to do this and all you have to do is contact Linda Clover on 01904 435462 or email linda.clover@ioko.com, and we will take it from there.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 Seminar, London
We recently held a NHS MOSS 2007 seminar, at the National Science Learning Centre in York. This was our most oversubscribed seminar to date and we would like to thank all those that attended. We are delighted to announce that we will be holding another MOSS 2007 seminar in London on Thursday 8th March 2006. Again there will be the blend of experts from both Carelink and Microsoft as well as NHS speakers too. We are very happy to announce that Peter Duerden, Applications Developer for Southend PCT, will also speak about their reasons for considering SharePoint 2007 for their information management requirements. If you can’t make it then please come and see us on Stand B76 at HC2007 or alternatively we will be holding another seminar in June 2007 (location TBA).

Basic and Data Access Packages
We have implemented vast improvements in our service delivery infrastructure such as increasing our N3 bandwidth pipe and the overall resiliency of platform. In addition we have put in higher performance content switches and implemented comprehensive ITIL practices, our support requests infrastructure is one of the ‘leading services of its kind in Europe’ (quote by Hewlett Packard). However, after 5 years without any increases we are introducing a small price rise on a couple of our services. The price of our Basic and Data Access packages will increase by 5%, to £575 per annum and £890 per annum respectively. These increases will be applied at the next renewal.

iPLATO Patient Care Messaging
iPLATO, the leader in Mobile Patient Communication Services in Britain and a Carelink client, has launched Patient Care Messaging to 130,000 Patients across 22 GP surgeries in the West London borough of Ealing. The system can be used to send automated text message appointment reminders out to patients, this has the effect of drastically reducing the number of missed appointments that a surgery may have. GP practices also use the system to invite patients to various health promotion clinics such as flu-jab, asthma and diabetes clinics. Text messaging is an effective and immediate way of engaging with patients and has great benefits in improving the quality of patient care services.
