Obtaining NHSnet and .nhs.uk web addresses

Creating ordinary www. addresses is pretty simple, someone tells us which URL(s) they want, we then register them and apply them to the site when required; clients should allow around 4 days to do the registration, setup and to let the change fully propagate around the internet.

Adding nww addresses (on NHSnet or N3) or .nhs.uk addresses is a little more difficult. We do not (are not allowed to) deal with the DNS setup for the NHSnet or, indeed, nhs.uk domains, as these are only available to bona fide NHS organisations.
The NHSIA used to deal with DNS registration, this has changed to “NHS Connecting for Health”. Clients can use www.addressing.nhs.uk  to get more info and dns@npfit.nhs.uk mailbox for addressing enquiries, or talk to Tony Gledholmes.
