Carelink Document Management Add ons |
|
We have developed a collection of document management add-ons which enhance the core document management functionality delivered by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007:
- Word Document to PDF Conversion – uses the SharePoint Document Conversion Framework and allows end-users to convert Word documents (both 97 – 2003 .doc format, and the new 2007 .docx format) to PDFs.
- Document Archive – allows end-users to archive documents within a SharePoint site collection, and enables “Document Archive Managers” to manage the archive.
- Document Creation and Approval Workflow – a three or five-phase workflow allowing end-users to manage the process of Drafting, Formatting, Reviewing, Amending, and Approving a document.
- Document Expiry Notification – informs configured users / groups when documents are nearing their expiry date or have exceeded their expiry date.
- Unique Document ID Generation – automatically generates and assigns a unique document ID to documents within the site collection. Can be enabled on a per-document library basis.
- Read Confirmation Workflow – a workflow allowing end-users to manage the process of ensuring that a document is read by a configured audience.

Microsoft SharePoint is a sophisticated application that provides collaboration capability, document management functions, enterprise wide search, data access and more. It allows users to quickly and easily create Web sites for information sharing and document collaboration and to increase individual and team productivity.
SharePoint has two 'flavours',
- Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), which is designed for team sites and project sites. This comes free with Windows 2003 Server. We run a hosting service for WSS that allows multi-agency extranets and project sites.
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), which acts as a powerful portal, aggregating content, structuring WSS sites, providing personalisation and an enterprise class search capability. MOSS also provides enterprise class document management, collaboration and record management and is the basis for rich business intelligence solutions.
Because of the breadth of capabilities of this technology we find it helpful to focus on what issues it can help solve.
SharePoint solutions
Sharepoint provides the basis for many solutions to specific needs within the NHS, including project management, intranets, external portals and more.
We have development expertise to build bespoke solutions, however we have developed a number of core solutions that address specific needs experienced in most trusts:
- Document Management
- Intranet Portal
- Business Intelligence Portal
- Collaboration sites for teams and projects
- Extranets
SharePoint has now received a major update, becoming part of the MS Office 2007 suite. This new release represents a huge step forward and will recommend it to our clients over the earlier version (SPS2003).
