N3 is a secure wide area network connecting NHS organisations.
Connections to N3 are strictly controlled by the Connecting for Health Information Governance group, which specifies the security required and data protocols allowed under its Code of Connect agreements. Similarly, it controls access to or from the Internet through managed gateways.
Our service allows organisations that need to provide access to applications and data from both (or either) the NHS N3 network and the Internet to benefit from a secure, high performance service. We can generally get new clients live in a matter of weeks, bypassing months of technical and administrative hurdles.
More than 260 NHS Trusts and other NHS organisations entrust their web sites and other applications to Carelink. A large number of commercial organisations also host with us in order to provide their services to their NHS clients.
